Burgess Hill Town Vs Three Bridges

Matchday Programme

Gaffers Thoughts

Good afternoon and welcome to the Medical Travel Compared Stadium. It is almost two months since we took to the hallowed Leylands Park ‘turf’ for a fixture and it feels long overdue.

This season has presented us with a number of challenges. We did not necessarily expect to be at this level so quickly in this project (however, I am very proud of how everyone involved with the team and club has embraced the challenge). It’s important to remember that despite our recent difficulties, we have come a long way in a relatively short space of time. We have learnt an awful lot this season and we will work tirelessly to put those lessons to use in the future as we continue to find our feet and progress as far as we can.

Our opponents today, on the other hand, are aiming to recover back to their original starting point having fallen through the divisions in recent years. Promotion this season will be a small step on that journey. They are now a virtual certainty to win this division with games to spare however we took a great amount of belief and confidence from our away performance in January. Despite the 1-0 defeat (their worst league result of the season), it was clear to see that day for all in attendance that the better team on the afternoon lost.

Today we aim to go one better- encouraged by the confidence that consistency of performance will always breed positive results in the long term.

I encourage everyone in the ground today to be vocal, get behind the girls and push us on like you have done all season. As ever, your support means the world and is greatly appreciated.

Enjoy the game.

2025 - Women’s Team take two giant steps towards SCWGFL Championship title

A year ago, the Women’s side were in the midst of an epic promotion battle alongside Oakwood, Hailsham Town and Brighton Seagals.

On the 16th March, Hill travelled to Palatine Park to take on a Worthing Town DS side which proved to be a stern test despite their lowly position in the division. An even game for much of the first half, Alicia Haworth opened the scoring just before the interval. The hosts tired in the second half leaving spaces for Chloe Chesworth, Brogan Kirk and youth graduate Leonie Heath to grab goals- sparking some excellent celebrations as the Hillians took home a 4-0 win and all 3 points.

One week later on March 23rd, Town hosted Woodingdean Wanderers. The visitors came to Leylands Park with an excellent game plan in which they ceded almost all of the possession to their hosts and ensured that the bus was firmly parked in front of the goal.

Town spurned a number of great chances and one Becky Geraghty-Shewan – playing at full back for Woodingdean – was adjudged not to have Luis Suarez-style handled off the line (she has since admitted that this was a great save and was a stonewall handball…). It was beginning to look like the Hillians may have to settle for a solitary point. However, with SIX attackers on the pitch the deadlock was finally broken after Brogan Kirk’s long-range effort squirmed under the goalkeeper. She added another late on to give Burgess Hill a 2-0 win which proved crucial in the title race when the final table took shape.

Following the game, Hill’s management team spoke to Colin Bowman and expressed their admiration for Woodingdean’s performance and for pushing them beyond where the squad would normally have to go in order to find the win.
